Tony Revell is an ex-Elite Cross Country Mountain Bike athlete and now a professional Hyrox competitor. With numerous victories in both cycling and Hyrox, Tony’s standout achievement is holding the World Record for a Hyrox event wearing a 10kg backpack in London, a feat he completed while raising money for MacMillan Charity.

Q&A with Tony Revell
1. How did you get involved in Hyrox?
I joined a local CrossFit box, Luma Fitness, at the start of 2022. They were a Hyrox affiliate and introduced me to the sport. I quickly realised it played to my strengths, and from there the seed was planted—it’s been growing ever since.
2. What is your greatest sporting achievement?
Coming from an Elite XC Mountain Bike background, I had plenty of podiums on the bike. But one of my proudest victories to date was winning Hamburg Hyrox Pro overall, coming from behind as the underdog. Another highlight was breaking the Hyrox World Record wearing a 10kg backpack in London while raising money for MacMillan Charity.
3. Who was your biggest sporting inspiration growing up?
I was a big Motocross fan. Travis Pastrana was my hero—someone unafraid to stand out from the crowd.
4. What’s the best thing about competing in Hyrox?
Hyrox reignited my passion for training after lockdown. It gave me motivation, adrenaline, and a community of amazing athletes who’ve become close friends.
5. What motivates you to train and compete at the highest level?
I’m naturally competitive and an adrenaline junkie. I love pushing my body beyond limits, proving to myself—and others—that I can achieve more than expected.
6. What advice would you give to someone taking Hyrox seriously?
Train with purpose. Join a supportive gym community or work with a coach. Get comfortable being uncomfortable, strengthen your mindset, and surround yourself with positive people who believe in you.
7. If you could be a pro athlete in another sport, what would it be?
CrossFit. I admire the versatility required and how athletes constantly raise the bar of what’s humanly possible.
8. Describe your perfect weekend.
A Hyrox race weekend with my wife, travelling across the UK and Europe, catching up with friends, competing, and celebrating. Then, a Sunday recovery walk with my wife, kids, and dog, followed by a home-cooked roast.
